The Art of Saying No

The Details

Intended audience:

Saying no is hard, and sometimes it’s necessary. But more often, the real challenge is managing the messy middle: those moments where a flat yes leaves you overcommitted and a flat no damages trust.

The goal is to show up as a strategic thought partner who knows how to navigate competing demands with clarity and confidence.

What We’ll Cover

  • If you say no: how to do it tactfully when you do say no

  • Respond, don’t react: how to pause and engage with intention instead of stress

  • The Yes, And framework: a simple structure for honoring a request while setting honest limits

The Goal

Walk away with the tools to protect your bandwidth, strengthen relationships, and be seen as someone who leads with strategy.

Thesis

Between yes and no lives self-leadership.

  • Yes feels maxed out, stressed

  • No feels guilty, risky to your role

  • Yes, and feels in integrity with yourself and your position on the team
